The Optio Charter

Optio suggests. People decide.

Last reviewed October 2026

Preamble

Optio is the assistant inside Decurion. It drafts forms and letters, finds what is missing, and watches for problems so staff can spend their time with people.

Automation that touches people’s lives must be held to a higher standard. This charter is that standard. It is informed by established risk-management practice for automated systems: govern, map, measure, and manage.

This charter describes how we build and run Optio. The legal terms of your service are set in your agreement with us.

  1. Article 1: People decide

Optio prepares and suggests. A person approves each action before it takes effect, or approves the schedule for routine work in advance. Optio does not act on its own authority.

  2. Article 2: Optio never denies help

Optio may never deny, delay, or reduce help for anyone. It may flag a concern; only a person can act on it.

  3. Article 3: Optio shows its work

Every flag, draft, and answer comes with the facts Optio used and the reason it made the suggestion, so a person can check it.

  4. Article 4: Every step is logged

Every suggestion, edit, approval, and rejection is written to the audit trail, with the name of the person who decided.

  5. Article 5: Checked for fairness

We measure Optio’s suggestions on a schedule for patterns that favor or disfavor any group, and we work to fix what we find.

  6. Article 6: Your records stay yours

Your records are never used to train or improve tools for any other organization or company. Optio uses your data only to serve your work.

  7. Article 7: Clear limits

Each organization decides what Optio may help with. Optio stays within those limits, and turning a task off takes effect at once.

  8. Article 8: Risks mapped before release

Before a new Optio task ships, we map where it could cause harm, decide how a person will catch a mistake, and pass the ethics review.

  9. Article 9: Honest about Optio

Optio is always clearly marked. No one is ever led to believe they are talking with a person when they are not.

  10. Article 10: Room to disagree

Staff can reject any suggestion without giving a reason. Decurion does not score staff on how often they accept Optio.
